In the middle of a drought, Elijah asked the widow of Zaraphath for water and a small loaf of bread. When she told him about her meagre supplies he said to her:
Don’t be afraid. God home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.’ 1 Kings 16:13-14
And it was so.
Today you are invited to consider how much you believe God will provide for you and your family. How would you feel if He instructed you to give your last drop of water or your last meal away to someone? What would you say to Him? How strong is your belief in His promise that He will provide for you? How willing are you to be the source of provision to another who may not know the Living God as their Saviour? What action would you take? How would you feel if you were on the receiving end of such a gift – which would bring life for your family for another day? Speak to God today about any struggles you may have in this regard. Be open with Him and ask Him to show you just how intimately He is involved in providing everything you need for life.
Mat God bless you with His provision today.
